However, if a household does not have access to e-mail or the Internet, we will send information by mail. Use of Membership Lists and Information • Contact information, including e-mail addresses, is considered personal and private, for the sole use of NVN. Only staff members, designated officers of the Board, and authorized group and committee leaders are permitted to utilize the general NVN mail and e-mail lists. Anyone wishing to distribute information to the general list must contact the President or Vice-President of the Board. Interest group coordinators may maintain separate lists and distribute information to their particular group. No Commercial Promotions • Members may not use NVN or its communication avenues, including email, meetings, events, or other forums, to promote their businesses or other commercial enterprises. Public Statements • NVN’s President is the official spokesperson for the organization. Any member, volunteer, or NVN participant must have the prior approval of the NVN Board in order to represent the organization to the public or to other organizations in a formal way, particularly to the media. All written communications related to NVN are subject to approval of the President or Board before being released. Routine requests for information concerning NVN can be handled through Board-approved informational brochures and fliers prepared for that purpose. Conflict of InterestAccording to the Bylaws, Section 6.012 “Whenever a member of the Board of Governors or officer has a financial or personal interest in any matter coming before the Board of Governors, the affected person shall (a) fully disclose the nature of the interest and (b) withdraw from discussion, lobbying, and voting on the matter. Any transaction or vote involving a potential conflict of interest shall be approved only when a majority of disinterested directors determine that it is in the best interest of the corporation to do so.” These same restrictions apply to interest group coordinators.
Right Relations Approved by the Board on 3/27/2025 NVN values guide our relationships with one another and our participation in NVN. All members are expected to comport themselves in accordance with NVN values: To treat each other with respect NVN does not tolerate disruptive or harassing behavior or behavior in violation of NVN values. Anyone who believes that they have experienced or witnessed disruptive, or harassing, or other unacceptable behavior by any employee, member, or visitor at NVN meetings or events should report the incident immediately, in writing, to the Board President or the Chair of the Governance Committee, so that appropriate action can be taken. The NVN Board President or their delegate(s) will promptly and thoroughly investigate all reports of disruption, harassment, or other unacceptable behavior as discreetly and confidentially as practicable. The investigation would generally include a private interview with the person(s) making the report, the person(s) who are the subject of the report and, where possible, others who may have information relating to the investigation. The investigators have the discretion to reach their conclusions based on whatever evidence is available, regardless of whether there were witnesses. If it is determined that disruptive or harassing behavior, or behavior in violation of NVN values, has occurred, NVN will take appropriate action, which may include warnings, suspensions, termination of membership, and/or exclusion from NVN activities. Individuals who report disruptive, harassing, or other unacceptable behavior, and individuals who cooperate with investigations into such allegations, will not be subject to retaliation. Upon completion of the investigation, NVN will inform the individual(s) who made the complaint and the individual(s) who are the subject of the complaint of the results of the investigation. Decisions resulting from such investigations will be binding on all persons concerned. Compliance with this policy is a condition of membership in NVN.
