Through discussion and artmaking, participants will explore the limitless possibilities and personal joy of abstraction, with guidance from two experienced abstract artists, Kathryn and Lynn.
Kathryn comes to abstraction art through her love of painting. Using different instruments and media in her studio, Kathryn creates through intuition and a series of aesthetic choices to produce dynamic explorations of color and multimedia layered work. Personal expression in her painting is most important. In her prior life, Kathryn was a Geriatric physician who used her intuition in her practice.
Lynn Sini is an abstract painter working in polymer resin and wax. Her work explores the divide between abstraction and universal symbols. Through inscriptions, color and texture Lynn’s work offers a discovery of relationships between layers of movement and mood. Her work is in the permanent collections of such places as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Musee D Art Moderne Et D Art Contemporain, Nice.
P.S. Join us for more conversations on Abstraction as we explore the amazing Abstract Art collection of the Woodmere Art Museum on Sunday, October 4. Sign up at the workshop!
